  • 1 kg. chestnut
  • 750 GR. sugar
  • 750 GR. water
  • 1 vanilla pod
Instructions
  1. Make a cut in the shell of the chestnuts.
  2. Put the water in a cauldron and add the chestnuts until the water covers them.
  3. Bring the chestnuts to a boil. Then keep on a boil for 10 minutes.
  4. Drain the water and with the chestnuts still hot, remove both their peel and brown skin (Be careful not to burn yourself).
  5. Put the sugar in a cauldron along with the water and the vanilla bean, over low heat until the syrup is formed.
  6. It's important to stir from time to time. As soon as the sugar has dissolved and the syrup has reached the desired point, add the chestnuts.
  7. Cook the chestnuts in the syrup for 15 minutes over low heat.
  8. Turn off the heat and carefully remove the chestnuts from the cauldron one by one.
  9. Place the chestnuts in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid, And when you have put them all in, pour in the syrup until they are covered.
